“Decade by Decade”
Founder & CEO
Get Priorities Straight
Doug Peterson is a born entrepreneur, having founded six companies and two non-profits. He got his start as a teenager by managing a band that performed backup vocals for Hall of Fame rock group Heart. After 18 years of working in the entrepreneurial coaching world, Doug decided he could be of more help to his community and founded Get Priorities Straight (GPS) in 2018. GPS was built out of observing his coaching clients achieve success in their field, but still seeing a disconnect in how their personal finances affect their health, marriage, and/or business.
His non-profit work is driven out of support for two of his three children that were diagnosed with a genetic disorder called Phenylketonuria (PKU). As the founding board member and president of the PKU Action group, he worked to support families with PKU and the University of Washington Biomedical Genetics clinic. Additionally, he was a founding member of the PKU NW Alliance where he helped organize a nationwide annual event to teach individuals how to manage PKU.
When he is not spending time with his family and friends, you can find Doug singing karaoke, crabbing, biking, and officiating weddings (15 at the time this was written). Doug has built a fulfilling life and family in Kirkland with his wonderful wife of 40 years, Harriet. Together they have three adult children and two granddaughters.
