“How Does Your Specific Work Make a Difference for the Kingdom of God”

Cheri McDonald

Former Owner
Sound Harbor Financial Services, Inc.

Cheri McDonald started her career as a registered nurse in the area of rehabilitative medicine. From there her path transitioned to the insurance industry, where she worked as a disability and long term care consultant for two large insurance companies. In 2000, Cheri started her own agency focused on serving as a consultant and sales agent for Financial Planners, attorneys CPA’s and their clients. Later in 2019, Cheri’s business was sold due to health reasons. Her friend and mentor says, “God is not finished…He is now in the process of putting on a new set of wheels for the road ahead.” Cheri has been married for 42 years to Patrick, and they have 2 sons and a grandson. She loves her family, choir family, music, skiing, travel, being outdoors, and the study of scripture.

Jason Rahman

Software Engineer
Facebook

Jason Rahman is a Seattle, WA based software engineer and amatur photographer. He was raised in rural Indiana, graduating from Purdue University with a B.S. in Computer Science. Professionally, Jason specializes in databases and storage technology at a major social media company, where he serves with their Christian Employee Resource Group. Jason is active in the Faith + Work and Faith + Tech space in Seattle, helping Christians connect Sunday to Monday. Beyond work, he enjoys exploring the natural wonders of the Pacific Northwest, road biking, and escaping to various National Parks and far flung destinations.

John Adami

Principal
NW Heavy Duty

John Adami is the co-founder of a specialized rep agency, Northwest Heavy Duty, Inc., leveraging his 35+ years of experience in the on-highway truck industry. NWHD represents suppliers to PACCAR, Daimler and other North American truck builders, including Tesla. A PNW native and WSU grad, John and his wife Sandi are adjusting to an empty nest: their daughter Nikki is married and her husband Luke is a future Army chaplain currently attending Westminster Theological Seminary; son Jeffrey is a self-supporting, full-time drummer in Nashville TN. John has been active in KIROS for the past decade; he and Sandi attend Evergreen Church in Bothell when they are not spending time at Lake Chelan.

Event Topic:
In Luke chapter 3, John the Baptist challenged the people to live in a different way in light of Christ’s coming. Luke 3:12, ”The tax collectors said, ‘What should we do?’” Luke 3:14, “Then the soldiers said, ‘What should we do?’” In each case, John did not tell them to leave their work, but rather to carry it on in a new way. Suppose John were here in Bellevue today, and he came with the same challenge. How might he answer the same question from financial planners, architects, tech workers, consultants, or business owners? We will offer several illustrations of this from KIROS participants John Adami, Cheri MacDonald and Jason Rahman. We will follow with small group discussion, allowing each person to explore their own area of work.
