Rebecca Contreras is currently the President & CEO of AvantGarde LLC (AG), a consulting firm she co- founded in 2011. AG offers a “one stop shop” approach to addressing complex organizational, people and technology needs. AG has grown to over 110 employees and over 17 million in revenue in 2020. Prior to moving into the consulting business, Rebecca spent 15 years working in government. While living in DC, Rebecca served first as a Commissioned Officer to President George W Bush in the Bush White House managing the personnel appointments process for over 1,200 positions in the federal government. Then the President appointed her to go lead Corporate HR in the role of Deputy Assistant Secretary & Chief of Human Capital for the US Department of Treasury, a workforce of 128,000 employees. Rebecca started her government career working as a civil servant for nearly twelve years in Austin in Texas Government including serving as the Director of Human Resources for the Office of then Governor Bush for six years. Prior to joining the Governor’s Office, she served as HR Manager for then Texas Treasurer Kay Bailey Hutchison and Texas icon Ann Richards for six years.
 
Rebecca has recently received numerous awards including: two global awards “Women in Enterprise” by Women Enterprising Magazine and “Women 2 Watch for 2020” by the Women President’s Organization in NYC. Her company was also recognized during National Small Business Week with TX District Award in the Category awarded “Women Small Business of the Year” and “Federal Contractor Minority Business of the Year”.  Rebecca also received the Texas “Women Profiles in Power” award by the Austin Business Journal and Governor Greg Abbott in conjunction with the Texas Small Business Summit, also honored Rebecca with the Texas “Latina Entrepreneurial Excellence Award”.
 
Rebecca is also the co-founder of LaunchPad, a non-profit foundation that supports programs for inner city families, under privileged youth and causes in the Austin TX area.  Rebecca’s home base is the Austin Texas area with her husband David of  31 years and family. She has dedicated her life to empowering women and youth and encouraging them to live their God given purpose.  Rebecca is currently writing her transformative story in a book that will be released Fall /Winter 2021.

Speaker Topic:
Rebecca Contreras will share her insights and learnings of the role of the leader supporting people during un precedented times of crisis and turbulence. Leading a 110+ consulting company during a Pandemic and great time of unrest, she will expand on why she believes “market place leadership” during unprecedented times is a holy calling and great responsibility in not only leading but developing others. Rebecca’s personal career and entrepreneur story is unique in that she faced tremendous odds early in her career and life, through her faith in God, steadfast commitment to overcome obstacles in her path and strong mentors, she overcame insurmountable odds against her and eventually landed in a position serving as an advisor to a US President.

Parking/Entrance:
Parking garage is off of 8th St and Bellevue Way, in the Lincoln Square North garage (across from the Bellevue Square mall.) Parking is free with validation.

Please use the entrance into Maggiano’s from inside of Lincoln Square North. The entrance is near the elevators located on the first floor near Woods Coffee.

Online Event Details:
The online event will include break-out discussion sessions, allowing for meeting others and sharing together, as well as post-event connection time.

$29 until Monday, May 10th
$34 May 11th to 13th
Registration closes on Thursday, May 13th or when 57 registration seats are full.

Online Registration Fee:
Suggested payment is $5 for registration. Free registration is also available.
Registration closes at 7am on Friday, May 14th.

Refund Policy:
If you are sick or suspect you may have been exposed to COVID-19, please contact info(at)kiros.org, and we will provide a refund.

Name tags:
Name tags will be printed for those that register by Thursday morning, May 13th.
