Rose Wittenmyer

Rose is the founder and director of By the Book, a creative Scripture memory initiative serving families and local churches in the U.S. and internationally. What began with experimenting with Scripture memorization as a teenager has grown into a collaborative team developing innovative ways to help people memorize, understand, and apply the Word of God. Her work spans curriculum development, graphic design, video production, auditory memorization tool composition, teaching, and the creative direction of Memory Camps and live events. Together, the By the Book community has memorized more than 50,000 verses of the Word of God in context.

Creativity, entrepreneurship, and ministry tend to overlap in Rose’s life. She has the unusual privilege of sharing much of her life, work, and ministry with her family, collaborating on creative projects, ministry initiatives, and small entrepreneurial ventures. She also runs a small ballet studio, Ballet 31, integrating word-for-word Scripture with classical ballet. A lifelong learner, Rose has pursued a largely self-directed, hands-on education in business and entrepreneurship, including advanced business coursework at The Master’s University.

In the arts, she trained for ten years with the Pacific Northwest Ballet and took five years of harp study under internationally acclaimed harpist Heidi Lehwalder.

Rose is passionate about the local church, discipleship, teaching children, hospitality, and finding creative ways to weave Scripture into everyday life. She loves discipling young women, welcoming friends and strangers alike into her home, and heading outdoors with family, friends, and a video camera to bring creative ideas to life. For fun, she enjoys spontaneous mountaintop hymn sings with her harp, martial arts, waterskiing, and riding horses — in a princess dress, of course. She is delighted to continue promoting her passion for faith and work integration through KIROS.
