“SCRUM Faith: Lessons from a Christian Living in an Agile Development World”
Director – New Airplane Development Estimating
Brian Bauer leads the organization that creates estimates and business cases for new Boeing Commercial aircraft. In that role, he oversees airplane development investment estimates from early concept to entry into service as well as future production cost estimates. His team provides investment decision support and financial risk analysis using cash flow models and statistical tools. Brian has worked in various roles at Boeing since 2001. He is also a part of Refuge Foursquare church in downtown Everett.
SCRUM and Agile Development are prevalent methodologies for software development and they are also gaining ground in the realm of hardware development. Agile and SCRUM contain principles of work which mirror biblical models of servant leadership and respect for the worker. What lessons can be drawn from living as a Christian in an agile development world, where outcomes matter more than underlying principles?
