The Mechanical Engineer will possess leadership qualities and the ability to work efficiently and within budget. The primary function and role will be to modify/improve released parts based on requests for change, coordinate testing of design changes needed for approval of ECN’s, update released drawings upon approval of ECN’s, and create and manage Bills of Materials. Successful candidates will enjoy contributing to an innovative, forward-thinking team and who can always keep the end user in mind.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Maintain and update controlled documents for part drawings, revisions, ECN’s and assembly drawings
• Design and help to develop changes to products and parts alongside the Engineering, Quality and Operations teams
• Work with suppliers to ensure the design intent is accurately communicated as well as to implement cost savings and quality improvements
• Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements
• Apply working knowledge of product design and assembly to the manufacturing process
• Create processes and procedures to help the company meet budgetary goals as well as performance quotas
• Participate in brainstorming sessions and cross-departmental meetings to ensure collaborating and cohesion
• Establish an effective and efficient assembly work sequence
• Devise new solutions to existing manufacturing problems
Desired Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
• 2+ years’ design and quality control experience in product manufacturing
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, including managing large assemblies and creating drawings for manufacturing
• Basic understanding of GD&T
• Experience designing using metals, plastics, glass and electronic assemblies
• Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
• History of progressive responsibility a plus
• Works independently with minimal supervision
• Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office programs
• SolidWorks Simulation and PDM experience
• Metalworking including a mill and lathe
• Experience working in an ISO certified company and writing ISO level procedures
